Perennial fruit-bearing plant in the genus, Rubus of the rose family. The fruit is one of the most popular summer fruits.

 

Properties

Raspberry leaves have a strong tradition of use to strenghten and tone the tissue of the womb. As an astringent, it may be used to treat diarrhoea and ease mouth problems such as ulcers and inflammations.

By the middle ages, raspberry was recognised as a favourite women's tonic being then used to soothe many of the complaints of the fertile yesars. Wealthy medievil Eurpoeans used raspberry as a food.
