Description

A large tree with sweet smelling white blossom usually in July

 

Properties and Uses

The blossom, or flower, when infused into a tea is useful when treating colds and flu as well as calming and relaxing, useful for anxiety and restfulness. It is said to help low blood pressure. Honey from the flower is considered one of the best flavoured.

 

History

The wood has been used in carving where strength and durability is required and for ease of working. Grinley GGibbons did most of his flowers and figure carvings for St Paul's cthedral , Windsor Castle and Chatsworth in lime wood.
